Social Studies Council
The RCSD Social Studies Council meets monthly to discuss current issues in the Social Studies department and to share information, resources, and best practices with district teachers. Each school in the district should have one representative on the Council. It is important for representatives to attend scheduled meetings so their school can have a voice in the decision-making process. Valuable information and resources are shared at Council meetings.

In the 2009-2010 school year, we will be combining the elementary and secondary council meetings into one meeting from 4:15-5:30 p.m. Meetings will be held in the conference room at Central Office. There will be six meetings this year; our first meeting will be in December. We will discuss current state of Social Studies in the district, analyze data, and update council members on our work in schools K-12 in Fall 2009. All council meetings will be focused on developing a K-12 Social Studies vertical skills matrix that will assist teachers in assuring all RCSD students are provided a rigorous, culturally responsive, and relevant curriculum that will prepare them for college success!
